SkyRanger™ R70 / SkyRaider™ R80D
Designed for the most demanding operators in defense, security, public safety, and infrastructure inspection, the SkyRanger R70 sets the standard for small UAS performance and reliability. Featuring an increased payload capacity, open architecture, and advanced autonomy with artificial intelligence, the R70 is revolutionizing the capabilities of small VTOL UAS.
The R70’s versatile payload options offer ISR and delivery capabilities that were once exclusive to much larger UAS. Its optical sensors include the StormCaster-T, a longwave infrared, continuous zoom ISR payload with exceptional line-of-sight stabilization, range of motion, and geolocation accuracy. The HDZoom 30 provides precise target observation at distances up to 8 km, while the EO/IR Mk-II delivers high-fidelity daylight and thermal imagery, securely streamed anywhere in the world. Additionally, with the Osprey attachment, R70 operators can quickly attach, carry, and deliver objects up to 3.5 kg for forward resupply, asset extraction, or specialized missions.
Autonomous & Intelligent
Equipped with multiple embedded NVIDIA TX2 processors, the R70 operates as a flying supercomputer, capable of real-time artificial intelligence at the network edge, including object detection and classification. Four dedicated computer vision cameras, upgraded to the highest available HD resolution on the latest R70 airframe, facilitate autonomous operations, landing on moving platforms, and flights in GPS-denied environments.
Class-Leading Imaging & Multi-Mission Payloads Up To 3.5 Kg
With the StormCaster payload family, the R70 offers “Group 2 ISR in a Group 1 UAS.” Thanks to the latest propeller and motor updates, R70 operators can now attach and deliver nearly any object up to 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs). The updated EO/IR Frontcam (320×240 LWIR, 1080p EO 30Hz) enhances domain awareness when carrying bottom-mounted, non-camera payloads, or provides over 210° of simultaneous fore and aft situational awareness surveillance. The EO/IR Frontcam and all FLIR imaging payloads benefit from FLIR’s integrated AI tools and image analytics in both EO and IR, including object detection/classification, target tracking, moving target indication, target geolocation and heading & speed, and augmented reality overlays.
Resilient & Battle-Tested
The R70’s carbon fibre and magnesium airframe is built to withstand IP-54 and MIL-810G environmental tolerances. In flight, the R70 can endure sustained winds of 65 kph (40 mph) and gusts up to 90 kph (56 mph), with a maximum wind speed of 40 kph (25 mph) at takeoff, and can operate at altitudes up to 15,000’ MSL. Mission success is supported by a robust digital MIMO communications link and two independent navigation subsystems. The R70 can execute semi-autonomous missions without an active command link, enabling operations in RF-denied environments.
