Robotics Centre's new Heavy Lift UAV - "LONGBOW"

Introduced at CANSEC 2026, Robotics Centre has continued the development of the LONGBOW, a 50kg Max Takeoff Weight (MTOW) heavy lift quadcopter.

Designed around the manufacturing process and philosophy used to produce its "Shuriken" family of PFV drones, the platform is expected to fill roles in Arctic Surveillance, forward and medical resupply.

It has been designed with the ability to carry heavy cargo, as well as a multitude of sensors and other ISR payloads. With an expected operation time of an hour, it could become a workhorse on the battlefield. Building on the experience of Arctic battery research and development, and advanced manufacturing techniques, the platform is to be in LRIP (Low Rate Initial Production) in mid 2027.

This test flight validated the design decisions surrounding platform stability, portability, and operational ease of use.
